This week hasn't been very delightful to say the least. My blood pressure spiked to 140/100 (normally 90/60) and my doctor asked that I come in again on Friday for a second bp check for the week. Of course when I came in, my ankles were as puffy as ever and my BP was still high. Needless to say, the doctor asked that I make some changes until Baby B arrives so that I can get a better handle on my BP. Since blood work and urine tests all came back normal, they didn't need to induce me, but said if any of those other items hadn't come back normally, they may have had to. On Friday they asked that if I show any other signs of what they were identifying as possible preeclampsia, to call the emergency line and come to the hospital.
So of COURSE on Saturday my head was pounding. Pounding as in, throbbing headache (which I really haven't gotten during my pregnancy at all). Clint and I decided it was probably smart to bring our hospital bags just in case and to the hospital we went. Of course I arrived at the hospital and my BP had never looked so beautiful! 120/80 for the two hours we were there, so back home we went!
Now my doctor has asked that if I want to continue working (which I do ... what else would I do all day until Baby B comes!?!) I need to work from home. So for the next couple of weeks I need to adjust to not being in the office. I know for a lot of people that sounds lovely, but considering I wasn't planning on working from home for at least another week, and my prep list isn't done at this point, I'm a combination of restless and anxious. I wasn't prepared to have to completely alter my normal schedule at this point, so I'm praying that I'm able to make the adjustments necessary, have a productive week that doesn't feel too different, and of course (more than anything), that my BP stays low and Baby B keeps on growing!
On to the weekly update ...
How far along? 38 Weeks
Vegetable equivalent (according to What to Expect iPhone app): Watermelon
Total weight gain/loss: 29
lbs.
Maternity clothes? That's about all folks. I'm trying to figure out what a postpartum wardrobe should look like for those few weeks after baby is born. I'm assuming it's going to be a mix of maternity/flowy normal clothes. I'm SO excited to go shopping for normal clothes here in a month or two!
Best moment this week: Hmm ... probably hearing his heartbeat at the hospital, even though it wasn't in the best circumstances to be there. His heartbeat was so strong and healthy, I can't wait to see him soon! Relaxing by the pool on Sunday with Clint and Cooper was pretty nice too - Clint got the boot so Cooper could sunbathe next to me :)
Miss Anything: Heels, running, sleeping on my stomach.
Movement: All.the.time.
Food cravings: Still jelly beans this week, and my hubby made some AWESOME spaghetti this weekend which I was definitely craving.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks contractions, more frequent and stronger than last week but no real "signs" at the doctor's visit this week.
Belly Button in or out? SO flat.
Wedding rings on or off? There is no way I would squeeze my rings on at this point. I may never get my finger back.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Restless!
Looking forward to: Meeting our little man of course. This waiting game is tough!
I was high-risk for high blood pressure and I know what a pain it can be. I see it's been more than a week since your last post - hope the end of your pregnancy/delivery is going well!
